Mount Hood & Columbia Gorge
Plenty of close-in day hikes can be found in the Colombia River Gorge National Scenic Area and the Mt. Hood National Forest, within one or two hour drive from Portland by car. As you drive along the beautiful Columbia River you'll see why this is one of the wind-surfing capitals of the world.
