Discoveries of Curricular Analysis Workshop Series
A key component of a successful curricular process is the analysis of the curriculum and use of the findings to drive decision making. In this series you will identify critical questions and apply key components in Atlas to assist in analyzing your curriculum to answer these questions.

Catapult Mapping Quality
Explore the breadth of your capabilities in Atlas to advance the quality of your curriculum. Discover how the quality of your maps can have significant impact on student achievement. Your discoveries will be focused on the following:

  • Characteristics of a quality map
  • Determination of map quality at your school
  • Exploration of tools that will help facilitate review of mapping quality
  • Examination of where mapping quality fits in the overall curriculum process
  • Creation of the next steps that will catapult the quality of your curriculum

Diagnostic Curriculum Forensics Lab
Using the lens of quality, you will examine the different analytical tools available in Atlas to assist in driving curriculum conversations. Take the opportunity to dive into conversations that can uncover the clues to help move your curriculum to the next level.

  • Determine what curricular conversations are needed to further student achievement
  • Use a variety of techniques to search your curriculum to help guide curricular review
  • Use the Curricular Analytics tools in Atlas to facilitate conversations on the vertical and horizontal articulation of the curriculum
  • Examine different protocols to structure review of the curriculum

Build Tools and Resources*
Continue to expand the tools and resources you need by creating an interactive podcast for your team or brainstorming with colleagues from around the world on key items.

Participants will select one focused activity by creating a podcast or tool that reflects one of the following:

  • Define what a quality map is at your school or district
  • Explore how to use the analytical tools to answer key curricular questions

Adopting, Implementing and Analyzing a Standards Based Curriculum (2 Days)
Explore how standards are being used as a foundation for curriculum development and how Atlas supports this approach. Once the groundwork is set, review, interpret and analyze the standards and benchmarks to review the taught curriculum.

  • Examine the different types of standards that are available, with an in-depth look at the Common Core.
  • Explore how standards can be customized to meet the needs of your school or district.
  • Review how schools are editing their own standards.
  • Determine what standards and benchmarks are being set as goals compared to those assessed.
  • View the variety of assessments being used to assess students.
  • Create specific reports that can be used to facilitate review and critical conversations.
  • Spend individual time with an Atlas consultant to answer any critical questions.

     

* As a prerequisite for the Build Tools and Resources workshop, participants must have attended a prior AEC workshop session, during either the same or a different visit.  Additionally, these workshops begin at 8:00 am.
