The Essence of Leadership Workshop Series
Leading a process for any initiative takes thought, planning and
prescribed execution. Throughout this series we will focus on
strengthening your foundation for strong leadership as well as building
a toolkit to guide the curriculum work being done at your school or
district.Establish a Foundation for
Leading Curriculum Design
This session explores foundational competence areas for curriculum
leaders. Whether you are a formal or an informal curriculum leader at
your school or district, come and engage in hands-on and reflective
activities that will develop and sharpen essential skills for proactive
and transformational leadership.
- Examine the key elements to curriculum design that focus on
identifying the essential components to your curriculum, explore the
school structures and processes in place and develop a strategic
plan to manage the process
- Formulate a guide for structuring a solid Core Leadership Team
and identify their role in supporting and leading your curriculum
process
- Explore up-to-date best practices and the lessons learned from
actual Atlas users as to what it takes to lead a successful mapping
process
- Build and share tools that will strengthen your Core Leadership
Team process
Design an Effective Review Process A key component throughout Rubicon's Methodology is curricular review.
Examine components of successful curricular review processes and how
they might be employed at your school or district to sustain ongoing
curricular enhancement. Participants will be encouraged to bring
representative examples of their curriculum to use in focused review
conversations.
- Model and practice the three main types of review:
- Create protocols that will provide your colleagues with the
facilitation tools necessary to conduct curricular review based on key
goals identified.
- Explore ways to engage faculty in designing and sustaining the
curriculum mapping process.
Build Tools and Resources*
Continue to expand the tools and resources you need by creating an
interactive podcast for your team or brainstorming with colleagues from
around the world on key items.
Participants will select one focused activity by creating a podcast
or tool that reflects one of the following:
- Get front and center with every member of your team to explain
the purpose of mapping at your school or district.
- Walk through the structure and use a review protocols created in
the workshop to assist in conducting your review process.
- Develop a series of in depth review protocols.
Refine and Reflect Prerequisite: Attend
Build Tools and Resources
Take time to present and gain feedback on tools and resources
developed in previous sessions. Participants will have the opportunity
to work individually or with their team to make revisions, finish the
development of their tool or spend one on one time with an Atlas
consultant.
- Practice protocols to giving and receiving constructive feedback
on work.
- Seize the opportunity to return with completed products
necessary to support your process.
- Celebrate the successes achieved.
- Spend individual time with an Atlas consultant to answer any
critical questions.
* As a prerequisite for the
Build Tools and Resources
workshop, participants must have attended a prior AEC workshop session,
during either the same or a different visit. Additionally, these
workshops begin at 8:00 am. |
